Redlands Osteopathy

What is an Osteopath?

Osteopaths are allied health professionals who provide a patient-centred approach to healthcare that supports functional improvement and overall well-being. They recognise the crucial link between the body's structure and the way it functions.

Osteopaths take a holistic view of the body, focusing on how the skeleton, joints, muscles, nerves, circulation, connective tissue, and internal organs work together as an integrated unit.

Using a broad range of approaches, osteopaths aim to optimise function and reduce pain. These include:

  • Manual therapy: techniques such as mobilisation, stretching, massage, and manipulation of joints and soft tissue

  • Exercise therapy and rehabilitation programming

  • Prescribing supportive equipment where needed

  • Lifestyle advice and patient education

Treatment plans are tailored to the individual and based on comprehensive clinical assessment and diagnostic reasoning.

In Australia, osteopaths are government-registered primary healthcare providers. They complete accredited university training covering anatomy, physiology, pathology, general medical diagnosis, and osteopathic techniques.

Osteopaths are also trained to:

  • Recognise conditions requiring medical referral

  • Perform standard examinations of the musculoskeletal, cardiovascular, respiratory, and nervous systems

Whether addressing chronic conditions, acute injuries, or supporting overall movement and function, osteopaths play an important role in the wider healthcare system.

Health Insurance

ON-THE-SPOT CLAIMING AVAILABLE FOR MOST FUNDS

Osteopathic treatment is covered by most private health insurers as well as Medicare’s GP Chronic Condition Management Plan (GPCCMP). Osteopaths are also registered providers for Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) patients, and are recognised by state workers’ compensation schemes and motor accident insurers.

We offer on-the-spot claiming through HICAPS for the majority of private health funds. If your fund is not eligible for on-the-spot processing, we will email you a detailed receipt after your appointment. You can then lodge your claim manually by following the instructions provided by your health fund, typically through their website or app.
